Josiah has over 15 years experience teaching and performing. As a recent graduate of Utah Valley Universities Commercial Music program (spring 2019), he is proficient teaching many styles including jazz, rock, funk, pop, latin, and rudimental drumming. While in school, Josiah enjoyed teaching drum set and percussion at Best in Music Education Center as well as Prattland Music Adventures which were valuable experiences for his growth as an educator. He was also the recipient of a full tuition music scholarship which he maintained every semester until being offered the R.M.C. Harp, Percussion, and Composition Scholarship for his works as both a composer and a drummer/percussionist.
In addition to his experiences teaching Josiah has also performed extensively including with the Utah Jazz Drum Line, Utah Valley Universities top Percussion ensemble Percussion UVU, UVUs top jazz ensemble, the Green Man Group, and many more. In 2015 he competed in Utah's Percussive Arts Society Day of Percussion drum set solo competition, placing first. He participated in the Day of Percussion again in 2019, this time in the drum set small group competition, placing second. He has had the privilege of working and performing with many great musicians while in Utah including: Jay Lawrence, John Riley, Kobe Watkins, Kris Johnson, Doug Smith, Alexis Cuadrado, Corey Christiansen, Todd Sorensen, Steve Lyman, Alex Heitlinger, and more.
